I LOVE this pattern! Such a nice, comfortable knit. Easy, but enough of a pattern to keep me interested.
Waterlily is a wonderful, soft yarn, with beautiful variations in color. I will purchase this yarn again.
Sounds divine, right? Wrong.
I don't like how the shoulders fit.
You see, I didn't get gauge, so I altered the upper portion. I could live with it, but given the fact that I finished this in October of 2008 and haven't worn it once (since the photo, a collector's item), I thought it best to just start over.
I have never done this before. If I didn't like something, I gave it away to someone who would. I guess I have never been so disappointed in a garment before. There. I said it. I think I was in denial for awhile.
This yarn is too scrumptious and too expensive to give away. I'll just have to frog to the armholes, and perhaps a bit more. I worked real hard on the closure, so that is staying.
I really love everything else about this sweater. I love the color, the length, the merino. My biggest hurdle will be trying to find the ends which I so meticulously hid. Oh, and the fact that I spit-spliced each ball together.
I don't have the energy to do this in the near future. Just thinking about it takes a lot out of me. The last project, my Victoria Cardigan, which caused me grief, landed in a pile for two years. I'm afraid Liesl will have to wait until next fall.
Bye bye!

What a crying shame, Trish. The color looks stunning on you.

Oh boo. That's just rotten.

I think the sweater looks fabulous from what I can see...I love the closure.
I know what you mean though, if it doesn't feel right you will never wear it. I have a few of those. It takes a lot of courage to frog, something I have a hard time doing. Good luck.
But just a thought...put it away for awhile and then rethink it...

Oh no! From the angle in the picture, it looks great! Before I read the text, just looking at the pictures, I thought "that's beautiful".
Good luck :)

Oh! Too bad, but we've all been there right? I actually have an entire rubbermaid of sweaters I have yet to face frogging. Yours is really is a beautiful sweater and it will be worth the frogging and re-knitting some day :)

It is too lovely to be left unworn so you have made the right choice to fix it as far as I am concerned. Purple is one of my favourite colours.

Trish, I say let it sit awhile before taking it apart. It is a gorgeous sweater. Beautiful color and looks like wonderful, soft yarn! Projects I have frogged rarely get made into anything, they just sit and wait for a scarf or shawl down the road. BTW, thanks for the lovely HUGe gifts. I'll probably regift it to one of my very adult DDs; they like little luxuries!

Love the color & closure. Not sure about the holey design running down the sleeve though.
