I completed the Spooky Cable Armwarmers, by Jen at 144 Inches of I-Cord a few days ago.
I used Berroco's Ultra Alpaca, a 50% alpaca, 50% wool blend worsted yard in 6277 Peat Mix, using about 163 yards, or 76 grams of yarn for the pair. I went down a couple of needle sizes from the yarn recommendation, to have a better fit, using Lantern Moon ebony size 5 double points. Ultra Alpaca is very hairy, but despite the plain wool content, is still soft enough for even me. The coloring of this yarn is heathered and slightly rustic, but it's evenly spun without thick and thin variations. It comes in 215 yard skeins, at a reasonable cost.
I modified the pattern to shorten the armwarmers, and I decreased in the purl stitches at the fingers in order for the armwarmers to taper inward. This is an easy, well written pattern, with more character than is usually found in wristwarmers, and it was also fun to knit. I'll use this pattern again. Thank you, Jen!

Now those are some of the nicest wristwarmers I've seen. I really do like them and I want to knit a pair but I wouldn't have an occaision to wear them. Such is the story for so many knitted items. Lol Great job, Trish!

Thanks so much for the link to these wristwarmers. Love the pattern! Right now I'm making a couple of pairs from Elann's Esprit - quick knits for gifts - but I want to do some warmer ones for family in cold climates, and these will be great!

Looks warm and cozy. Thanks for the link to the pattern, I'm saving this one for the future! I do want to make some sort of fingerless mitt sometime soonish, which means (hopefully) early next year. I'm bogged down with xmas knits to start it this year...

Yay! I'm so glad you made them. They look FANTASTIC. I'm going to keep your modifications in mind when I put the pattern into pdf form, so people know that changing the needle size works for resizing them.
I wear mine alllllll the time because they are so comfy and warm. Hoping they make you happy!

Those are nice, Trish! I love Berroco Ultra Alpaca. I made my prayer shawl with a blue/purple mix called Blueberry. I really liked working with the yarn. And it is nice and soft. I like the colour you've used for your mitts.
Great photos here -- your mitts, your kits (cats), and those eye candy shots. All very nice.

Oh those are lovely! And Ultra Alpaca IS SO Soft! I'm glad your keeping them (you are keeping them aren't you!) And thanks for the link to that pattern...I still have 3 (individual...not pairs) fingerless mitts to knit up-5 if i decide to knit some for my case manager for a gift. Have a great week. (PS-RSP scarf is finished and wrapped-will send it at end of month after holiday madness so you can send in January! DD "almost" absconded with it for a holiday party that she didn't have a gift yet---thank goodness i caught her in time and helped her choose a non-designated scarf for gifting.
